On 11 December 2020 the European Parliament and the Council reached a political agreement between on Horizon Europe<\/a>, the largest transnational programme ever supporting research and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Few days later, on 17 December, the Council adopted the next long-term EU budget for the period 2021-2027, which includes also the budget for Horizon Europe programme and many other EU funding programmes and initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new EU research and innovation programme will have a budget of around \u20ac 95.5 billion<\/strong> for 2021-2027 (current prices). This includes \u20ac5.4 billion (current prices) from Next Generation EU <\/strong>to boost EU recovery and make the EU more resilient for the future, as well as an additional reinforcement of \u20ac4.5 billion (current prices).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, Horizon Europe will have a 30% increased budget<\/strong> compared to the previous programme Horizon 2020 and it will be the most ambitious research and innovation programme in the world<\/strong>, according to the European Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, Horizon Europe will soon enter into force. Start date was expected to be on 1st<\/sup> of January 2021, but a small delay can occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
