My INVITE experience has been wonderful and fulfilling. During my time as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD student at the University of Verona, I have had the opportunity to learn new research techniques related to my field of study, which would help me advance my career as a neuroscientist.
During this time, I was able to present my research to people of like minds at conferences, seminars, and summer schools both within and outside the University of Verona. This provided the opportunity for me to network and connect with new people of similar scientific interests as mine.
It has not been all work and no play. I was able to socialize and make new friends within and outside the INVITE project, which provided the perfect work-life balance for me during times when I felt overwhelmed undertaking a PhD program.
Although with the advent of COVID-19 came numerous challenges, the INVITE program has – without a doubt – opened doors of opportunities for me. I am currently spending the last few months of my PhD program at the Hotchkiss Brain Institute, of the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Canada, where I hope to broaden my horizon in the field of neuroscience research.
I am very grateful to my PhD supervisor, Dr Raffaella Mariotti for all her mentorship and guidance during my PhD program, and to my tutor, Dr Ilaria Scambi for her help and support.
Thank you and God bless!
