The PhD in Computer Science covers the main research topics in applied and theoretical information and communications technology (ICT).
Applications in this PhD program are invited in the field of Medical informatics, Biomedical image processing and Bioinformatics. The research pillars of strength in this domain at the University of Verona are medical informatics, biomedical data processing and bioinformatics, jointly aiming at developing computational models, computational platforms and algorithms taking an inclusive and wide spectrum perspective.
Among the main themes for this application area, the applicants should focus on:
- Healthcare and clinical process-aware information systems, clinical databases and data warehouses, clinical data mining, and big-data for medical informatics;
- Biomedical signal and image processing, functional and structural neuroimaging, human brain connectomics and machine learning for biomedical data processing;
- Computational systems biology, natural computing, computational genomics and algorithms for bioinformatics.
Research proposals covering different themes above are invited, and priority will be given to multidisciplinary topics.
